New concerts!

In end of November we will go play to Slovakia again! This time we will feature great musicians from Slovakia – Oskar Rozsa on bass and Martin Valihora on drums.

Than in January our first Quartet will get together again (with Janos Bruneel and Joao Lobo) for a gig at the Winter Jazz Festival in Brussels.

We will also get to play with Universal Mind and have a special CD release concert in JazzCase!

We played there with our Quartet, on bass played with us this time Claus Kaarsgaard and on drums Joao Lobo.

Universal Mind

We are very pleased to announce that our new record AsGuests with Strings: Universal Mind will be released by the American jazz record label Origin Records!

The CD was recorded in June 2010 in Belgium and will be out in the beginning of May 2011. Stay tuned for more info!

AsGuests Trio

In the month of December AsGuests Trio is touring Czech Republic and Slovakia. This new project includes Paul Towndrow on alto saxophone, Miro Herak - vibraphone and Claus Kaarsgaard on double bass. We will present new compositions and arrangements composed specially for this tour.

Upcoming concerts

We have some new shows coming up in October:

We are coming to Slovakia to play concerts with the project “The Fifth Season” in October. We will play in Restauracia Blue Note in Nove Mesto nad Vahom on the 21st and on the 22nd at the Bratislava Jazz Days – already 36th edition of the festival!

After the festival we will be traveling to Brussels to play a concert in Blue Flamingo with AsGuests Quartet. At this concert we will be joined by a special guest, great trumpeter Chad McCullough from Seattle.

Universal Mind in the studio!

In the first week of June we are going to record a cd with one of our latest projects – Universal Mind. This seven piece band is featuring fantastic string players Jeffrey Bruinsma on violin, Oene van Geel on viola and Jorg Brinkman on cello. The quartet is represented by Michal and Miro, bassist Brice Soniano and Yonga Sun on drums. This recording is a collaboration of AsGuests with the production center Dommelhof in Neerpelt, Belgium. AsGuests: The Fifth Season in Scotland

AsGuests will be playing 4 concerts (Glasgow, Edinburgh) with three excellent Scottish musicians who joined The 5th Season – featuring alto saxophonist Paul Towndrow, drummer Alyn Cosker and bass player Euan Burton. Also, on the 6th of November University of Strathclyde will be the place where Paul, Michal and Miro will give a workshop on general approach to studying and playing as well as delving into complexity of the 5th Season’s repertoire. It includes compositions from every member and with the mutual understanding of music process this project presents a vital modern improvised music featuring many great soloists.
